Wednesday, 10 October 2007 Capital-E, an early stage venture fund focusing exclusively on “enabling” micro- and nano-electronics, announces that they have invested as co-lead with Earlybird Venture Capital in the US$26 million Series A funding round of Light Blue Optics Ltd (LBO). Existing investors 3i and Nesta also participated fully. Founded in 2004 and located in Cambridge (UK), LBO has developed an innovative holographic laser projection technology. The funding will enable LBO to accelerate its product development program towards high-volume manufacture of miniature projection systems for deployment in a range of markets including automotive, digital signage and consumer electronics. Rudi Severijns, partner at Capital-E, will join the board of directors of LBO and actively participate in the further development of the company.
